Lighting outdoor scenes for automotive in UE4 is easy so long as you know the steps and concepts required. In this course, we walk through the entire process for setting up a parkway outdoor overlook. Using High Dynamic Range Images (HDRI), we will be able to light our scene using just a Skydome to accurately generate light and reflections. Starting with a rudimentary scene, we begin our journey by crafting a highly controllable and reusable Skydome. The trick to this will be in a parametrically driven sky material to have the ability to rapidly change environments; adjust, bake and shoot. We will then learn how to import our Motorcycle and apply materials from the Automotive Materials library. Progressing onward, we will ensure the motorcycle is prepared for light baking by adjusting some of its parameters. In no time at all, you will have all the tools you need to make simple re-useable outdoor lighting sets. Though the subject matter of this tutorial will be automotive, the concepts learned are valid for most any outdoor lighting.
